Psychology Today Bio

Jordan Hickson, LPC (she/her/hers)

You’re here. For now, this must be the place. For what, is up to you. Let’s be curious. What do you hope for? Who do you want to be? Let’s suspend judgement. What do you really want? What’s working well right now? What isn’t? What are your options?

Let’s be intentional. What will you choose? Let’s be compassionate. What might you soften? What might you reframe? What might you re-do?

The therapeutic process is a collaboration intended to promote self-discovery, accountability, conflict resolution, healing, and growth. The course of treatment draws from a variety of modalities depending on individual presentation and present moment. Extensive training in trauma-informed treatment, and the evidence-based Nurturing Parent Program combined with yoga teacher certification and continuing education in neurodiversity, specifically, ADHD and dyslexia, have prepared me to provide excellent individual and group mental health services to youth, adolescents, and adults.

On a more personal note…

Once the counselor hat is removed, one may spot me in the wild occupied by yoga, running, art museums, learning Italian, or diversity, equity, and inclusion activism. When I recommence with the business of being a wife, mom to a tween, and the primary feeder of 2 dogs, my family and I enjoy live music, sporting events, bon fires, and ice cream.

Thank you for taking a moment to discover a bit about the essence of this practice. If this is still the place, let’s create change. If you recognize that this is no longer the place for you, that’s okay. Somewhere is. You are not alone. Let’s see how I may help.

Can’t we give ourselves one more chance…
love’s such an old-fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And love dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves…
This is ourselves
Under pressure…
Under Pressure
